Vietnamese culture or that of any country all over the world conveys its own features expressing nation and its people’ characters…. Family is a cultural category. Knowing about family structure, customs and habits is to partially acquire the nation culture. This article discusses the history of Vietnamese and American family. Family structure, customs and habits, family member education in Vietnamese and American family are described in comparison with each other.
