To meet the goal of medical training based on the competence of professional practice, teaching medical statistics needs to innovate in the direction of focusing on developing the competence of statistical reasoning in medicine for students. The researchers have applied the perspective of learning mathematics for life from the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) to propose a model for assessing the medical students' competence of statistical reasoning in medicine when solving problems in professional practice. The results obtained from the analysis of the student's performance show that this is a model that can be used effectively in assessing this competence of medical students.
