Abstract

 


For adaptation purposes, Truyen Kieu shows its vitality and ability to "re-interpret" on different art stages, in which the adaptation of the work into a “cai luong script” is most dominant. In this article, we will focus on researching several approaches of adapting Truyen Kieu to the script of the “cai luong theater”. Specifically, the script of the “cai luong Truyen Kieu” is based on some methods such as selecting events and combining dramatic - romantic elements, distributing and selecting character's personality, and designing and selecting song layouts. This study both confirms the value of the work Truyen Kieu and enables the readers to have an objective view of the absorption of Truyen Kieu on the “cai luong Viet Nam theater”.
