DESIGN SEX EDUCATION ACTIVITIES FOR PRIMARY STUDENTS: THE COMPETENCE-BASED APPROACH

Abstract

Sex education for primary students is a topic of great interest to society and the education sector. Based on the reality of sex education in 104 primary schools in 18 Ho Chi Minh City districts, the research has built five steps to integrate sex education in Nature – Social subjects. This teaching process also meets the requirements of lesson plans in Natural - Social subjects (2018). Step 1 should be paid to the combination of the requirements for specific scientific competence formed in Natural – Social subjects with the characteristics of teaching the content of sex education that is suitable for primary students. The contents of education in step 2 should be organized according to topics suitable to the integrated educational Natural – Social subjects and the psychophysiological characteristics of students in each grade level. At the same time, the research designed three sex education lesson plans based on the proposed teaching process to develop the student's competences. The experimental results obtained initially show that the teaching activities have equipped basic knowledge about sex education, in accordance with the orientation of teaching to develop scientific competencies for students.
