EXPLOITING THE REFLEX ELEMENTS IN CALLAN METHOD TO TEACH VIETNAMESE TO FOREIGN LEARNERS

Abstract
The Callan Method of Robin Callan, introduced in 1960, has been used to teach English and Spanish in England and some other countries around the world. In Vietnam, the method has also been used to teach English and Japanese under the name the Reflex Method, the Callan Reflex Method, which attracts a significant number of learners to attend. The paper researches the theory of the Callan Method, which comes from the Direct Method, the classroom techniques of the Berlitz Method, and B.F.Skinner’s behavioral psychology element in the Audiolingualism, features, and teaching procedures, factors shaping the reflex to learners, and solutions to teaching Vietnamese with the Callan Method.
