THE CENTRAL OFFICE FOR SOUTH VIETNAM LED THE ARMY AND PEOPLE OF SOUTHERN VIETNAM IN THE RESISTANCE AGAINST THE FRENCH COLONIALISTS (1951-1954)

Abstract
From 1951 to1954, the Central Office for South Vietnam played a pivotal role in leading the Southern Vietnamese army and populace to fight against the aggressive pacification and destruction campaigns of the French army and the Vietnamese National army. The study also higlights how, under the Central Office’s strategic direction, Southern Vietnamese forces intensified military offensives, supported the Dien Bien Phu campaign, weakened enemy forces, inflicted significant losses, and advanced guerrilla warfare locally. The Central Office’s leadership was instrumental in shaping Southern Vietnam revolution’s success, significantly contributing to the broader Vietnamese victory in the resistance against the French colonialism.
