PARENTAL BURNOUT – EMERGING TRENDS IN INTERNATIONAL AND VIETNAMESE CONTEXTS
Main Article Content
Abstract
Parental burnout is an emerging topic that is gradually receiving more attention in the field of psychological support for families and children–adolescents. Parental burnout was initially explored in Western countries and is now increasingly being studied in Eastern contexts. This article provides an overview of international and Vietnamese studies on parental burnout. The results of the literature review indicate that most previous studies have primarily concentrated on the conceptual development of parental burnout, often drawing parallels from occupational burnout, and on constructing specific assessment tools for accurate measurement. They have also examined a range of related factors, including those that pertain to parents themselves as well as those involving children. Based on this comprehensive overview, the article further emphasizes current research gaps and presents some possible directions for future investigations.
