THE PRELIMINARY RECEPTION OF THE BUDDHA AND HIS DHAMMA BY DR. B. R. AMBEDKAR FROM A LITERARY PERSPECTIVE
Main Article Content
Abstract
With significant contributions to the theoretical and practical aspects of the Indian social and political revolution in the 20th century, B.R. Ambedkar has been primarily studied from a biographical and ideological perspective, particularly through his work The Buddha and His Dhamma. This article applies methods of biographical criticism, literary reception, and cultural history to approach the work from a literary perspective. The research findings demonstrate that The Buddha and His Dhamma presents a distinctive viewpoint from the Dalit class, new perspectives on Buddhism, and the socio-political trend of religious secularization in the mid-20th century by Ambedkar. This article serves as a foundation for further introducing and studying Ambedkar's works in Vietnam, particularly his trilogy on Buddhism.
