EVALUATION OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PRESERVING RABBIT RED BLOOD CELLS IN 37% GLYCERIN AT 4oC AND -18oC IN VITRO
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study investigated the storage efficiency of rabbit red blood cells (Oryctolagus cuniculus) in 37% glycerin at 4oC and -18oC. Changes in cell morphology and packed cell volume (PCV) were analyzed over time. The results showed that red blood cells stored at -18oC maintained greater morphological stability, with over 90% of cells remaining normal during the first two weeks. In contrast, red blood cells stored at 4oC exhibited more significant changes. These findings highlight the importance of glycerin concentration and storage temperature in preserving rabbit red blood cells, offering valuable insights for research applications.
