A METAPHORICAL COMPARISON BETWEEN VIETNAMESE AND CHINESE EXPRESSING THE MEANING OF “EATING”

Abstract
Based on the conceptual metaphors of Lakoff and Johnson, this paper compares the metaphors between Chinese and Vietnamese related to “eating” concept. The comparison reveals some similarities and differences as well between the two peoples in the cognitive process. Finally, suggestions for Chinese teaching are offered.
