When the economy has grown, people’ s care for health has increased. For Ho Chi Minh City, the biggest economic and medical center in Southern Vietnam, the development of services for the citizens’ medical examination and treatment to meet their needs is necessary. The result of this study is to demonstrate that these services in Ho Chi Minh has considerably improved. More and more modern medical equipment has been installed and used with the whole-hearted care of the medical staff, which has helped save people’s lives, reduce death rate and increase city people’s longevity. However, overcrowding at some large hospitals still exists mainly due to imbalance in the professional qualification of medical staff at different levels. Therefore, the improvement of high-qualified medical staff, further investment in advanced medical equipment and even distribution of medical staff at all levels, raising people’s awareness are suggested to be the measures taken for better medical services at this city.
