THE EFFECTS OF COPPER ION ON THE SURVIVAL, GROWTH, AND RED BLOOD CELLS OF ADULT ZEBRAFISH
Main Article Content
Abstract
Copper ion is one of the cations that affect the vitality, growth ability, and the number of blood cells in fish development. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of copper ion (Cu2+) on the development process and hematological parameters of adult zebrafish at different concentrations: 0 µg/L; 500 µg/L; 1000 µg/L; and 2000 µg/L. The results revealed that, (i) the minimum Cu2+ concentration affecting the rice fish survival rate is 500 µg/L; (ii) the Cu2+concentration significantly affecting the survival rate was on the 6th day, the most effect happened at the 2000 µg/L concentration. Based on the observed results, we offered an equation to predict the survival rate of fish larvae and discovered the lethal LD50 concentration of Cu2+ after 11 days culturing is 1515µg/L, and LT50 of Cu2+at the concentration of 500-2000µg/L is 8,42-24,61 days. In conclusion, the higher the concentration of Cu2+ is, the lower the survival rate and growth ability of the fish is. The high concentration of Cu2+decreases the number of red blood cells of the fish, and the most effective concentration is at 2000 µg/L.
