A SURVEY ON THE COMPONENTS OF CRUSTACEANS ALONG THE COAST IN BINH THUAN PROVINCE
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper reports a survey of marine Crustacean species collected from 15 boats catching nearshore and offshore in Phan Thiet port in Binh Thuan province. The survey was carried out in the rainy season in 2016 and the dry season in 2017. The results have identified 32 species of crustaceans that belong to 1 class, 2 orders, 18 families, 25 varieties using a method of morphological comparison. There are four species in the study area in the Red Book: Panulirus versicolor, Charybdis feriata, Ranina ranin, and Thenus orientalis. The survey shows that many crustacean species in Binh Thuan sea area have high economic value. With some methods of fishing by some boats using bottom trawl and trawl fishing, together with small fishing nets, (violating the regulations on fishing nets), all have contributed to destroying and eliminating biodiversity, seriously affecting biology as well as marine crustaceans. Attention should be paid to the protection of and research on crustaceans, especially those in the Red Book to protect aquatic resources and biodiversity.
