DETERMINING THE DENSITY OF ACID USING THE CALIBRATION CURVE CONSTRUCTED BY MONTE CARLO SIMULATION DATA
Main Article Content
Abstract
In this study, we present an approach to determine the densities of some common acids. This approach requires to construct the linear calibration curve of the ratio lnR (R is the ratio of the area under a transmitted peak for an acid relative to that for water) versus the density of the liquids based on the Monte Carlo simulation data. This linear calibration curve was then used to determine the densities of acids. The study used the NaI(Tl) scintillation detector and the radioactive source of 137Cs. The study results indicate that the proposed approach is feasible for determining the densities of acids. The relative deviations between the measured and reference densities are less than 6.5% for the investigated samples. Thus, this study provides a different approach to determine the densities of acids, which is simple, effective, and convenient for determining the density of acids.
