ACADEMIC ADVISING MODELS AT UNIVERSITIES AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR VIETNAM
Main Article Content
Abstract
The article analyzes the regulations and guidelines for academic advising at a couple of universities in Vietnam, Germany and Hong Kong. At Vietnamese universities, academic advising belongs to the function of student affairs and advisors are lecturers; while at foreign universities is often to the function of teaching-learning and advisors are not restricted to lecturers. The organizational system of academic advising typically consists of a central student support office that classifies students' needs, including academic advising. Based on document analysis, the paper provides recommendations of an academic advising model consisting of three variables suitable to the current conditions of Vietnamese universities.
