Main Article Content
Abstract
The paper aims to decipher two poems Stones using “a matrix of meaning” which comprises a system of elements at various levels. This is a new direction and effective approach for poem analysis. This method considers a poem as a meaningful complex which was created on certain principles. “The meaningful path” of the poem could be “scalar”, “navigational”, “measurable” and “immeasurable”. Each form of the matrix offers the poem a certain value. Using the matrix to decode two Stone poems by Huyen Khong Son Thuong Trieu Tam Anh and Sau Ma enables readers to study the beauty of language and the poet’s creativity. In addition, this also allows the author of this paper to develop theoretical tools for poem analysis, contributing to the study of Vietnamese poetic language.
