Abstract

An experiment in applying Jacques Lacan's psychoanalytical theory to close reading of figurative languages in lyrical poetry, the article conducts an analysis of Bich Khe's symbolist poetical universe as a dual structure which corresponds to Lacanian psychosexual development. It is concluded that Bich Khe's unique structure of poetical figures  is organized by the interaction process between two different systems: a world of hallucinations (dominated by the Real) and a world of existence (dominated by the Imaginary and the Symbolic) with contrasting rules; hence Bích Khe's complex verbal combinations could be read as a result of mental therapy to psychological traumas caused by the subject's entry into Lacanian Symbolic Order.
