Abstract

 

 

In this paper, we present the results of an experiment on math students' mistakes in solving types of tasks involving the application of the definite integral of a real variable function. The types of tasks that are of interest in experimentation are concerned with calculating the area of a finite plane shape considered in Cartesian and polar coordinates. The mistakes that students face come from the constraints of the Mathematical institutions of the University of Science and the Saigon University. The results can be beneficial for pedagogical trainers in a way that they can visualize the obstacles that students face when approaching the instrumental role of the definite integral of a real variable function.
