Main Article Content
Abstract
This article represents the definition of STEAM education, the process of designing STEAM experiential activities, and proposes a structure for students’ problem-solving competencies in STEAM experiential activity. We designed activities to teach “Measurements” of Science for Grade 6 (Vietnam General Education Curriculum 2018) to develop problem-solving competencies for students. It has four STEAM-related topics which are designed to meet the demands of the new curriculum and to develop problem-solving competencies for students. The results show the feasibility of the planned teaching activities and the development of students’ problem-solving competencies. The main contribution of this article represents the process of organizing STEAM experiential activities and students’ problem-solving competencies in these activities (including 6 component competencies with 13 behaviors). Some limitations of the study are small sample of 20 students and the limited time of the experiment (5 months). Future studies should consider these limitations.
