Abstract

This paper is inspired by an event of asserting Tran Thuy Mai as a historical novel writer. Starting with the writer’s doubts and preoccupation with the past, the authors have deeply analysed “Tu Du Thai Hau” novel to understand the complexity of historical events and humanity in different dimensions. One of the highlights in the novel is that the writer proposed the manipulation of historic lessons for the present and future, which has contributed to its resounding success. There are four types of lessons mentioned above: (a) justice in life, (b) the power avaricious, (c) the reigning methodology, and (d) the significant use of talents. An interdisciplinary approach has been conducted to research inner context boundaries and emphasize the intimate relationship between the writer’s cultural experience and creative personality. The article is also aimed at appraising and recognizing Tran Thuy Mai’s contributions to the contemporary Vietnamese literature in general and the historical novel genre in particular.
