TRAINING COMPETENCES FOR ORGANISING EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION FOR GEOGRAPHY STUDENT TEACHERS AT CAN THO UNIVERSITY

Abstract

 

 

The article examined the reality of developing competences for organizing experiential education for Geography student teachers at Can Tho University. This research applied a number of methods: document analysis; interviews with lecturers and pre-service teachers; and observations. The result showed that pre-service teachers at Can Tho University somehow are able to develop competences to organize experiential education. The results are attributed to positive teaching strategies at the university: renovating teaching methods and integrating experiential education theory in suitable modules. It is concluded that to enhance the development competences of teaching an experiential education for Geography pre-service teachers, it is necessary to improve the awareness and teaching competences of lecturers, offer more necessary courses, apply individualized teaching, mobilize all relative education factors and improve student motivation in learning.
