SOME DISCUSSIONS ON SUPERVISION FOR PRACTICE BY SOCIAL WORK STUDENTS AT HO CHI MINH CITY UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION

Abstract
The article presents an overview of the concept, characteristics, purposes, roles and functions of supervision in social work practice and the specific requirements for supervising social work practice at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education. The paper will review related theories to summarize and present the concept, purpose and function of supervision on social work practice for student and requirements for supervisors on social work including qualification, (educated on social work or related major such as psychology and sociology), experience and knowledge on fieldwork and other requirements on communication skills, mentoring, coordination and building network for social work practice. This article provides information on the development of criteria to select supervisors of social work practice to ensure the quality of social work training at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education.
