HUMAN IN PHAN THANH GIAN’S PEOTRY: A CASE STUDY OF LUONG KHE THI THAO

Abstract
Phan Thanh Gian was a highranking mandarin of the Nguyen Dynasty, serving three reigns of King Minh Mang, King Thieu Tri and King Tu Duc. In literature, he is a great writer. His works cover a wide range of contents and a variety of genres, including Luong Khe thi thao with about 500 poems. Most of his works are about nature, yet he also wrote about human in many poems. This article analyzes some of the poems in Luong Khe thi thao. Humans who appear in his poetry, regardless of classes, all have beautiful personality traits and qualities. They are knowledgable, honorable, and yet humble. They are honest officials. Family members are always connected and support each others. Especially, workers are described to be gentle and hard-working. As reflected in these poems Phan Thanh Gian indicated his passion for people in his poetry.
