Abstract

Nowadays, competency assessment is one of the assessment trends across the globe. Accordingly, the development and standardization of competency assessment tools attract much attention from educators. For STEM education, a standardized and practical STEM competency assessment tool plays a vital role in guiding development in the future. This study aims to develop and standardize a tool for self-assessing STEM competencies of students in Ho Chi Minh. To guarantee the reliability and validity of the tool, the research process was strictly carried out in three stages, including questionnaire design, scale development, and scale evaluation. Quantitative analysis results show that the tool is reliable, valid, and appropriate to evaluate the STEM competency of students in the region. Thereby, this tool is suitable for students to self-assess their competency or a competency framework to support teachers in formulating other assessment tools in STEM learning.
