APPLYING INQUIRY – BASED LEARNING TO TEACH CONTENT “WORK AND ENERGY” TO DEVELOP GRADE 10 STUDENTS’ PHYSICS COMPETENCE IN GENERAL EDUCATION CURRICULUM 2018

Abstract

General Education Curriculum 2018, which was promulgated in 2018, requires teachers to change and apply suitable teaching methods so that high school students can develop the predefined competences and qualities. Based on the constructivist theory and inquiry – based learning, the article presents the application of the inquiry – based approach to teach 10th students the topic of t “Work and energy” in 2018 Physics Curriculum. The experiment shows that the inquiry – based approach is suitable for developing students’ physics competence, including sub- competences: physics cognitive competence (an increase of 7,9%); competence to study the natural world physically (an increase of 54,9%); competence to apply knowledge, skills (an increase of 9,0%). The article reports the process of teaching. The results of the study show that students can significantly develop a competence to study the natural world ((the most significant one). They can also create models to describe the conservation law.
