DEVELOPING NATURAL SCIENCE COMPETENCE FOR STUDENTS IN TEACHING THE TOPIC OF “PLANTS AND ANIMALS” (SCIENCE 4) THROUGH EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING

Abstract

The research presents how to build and organize experiential activities for teaching the topic of "Plants and animals" in Science for Grade 4 to enhance students’ competences of natural science and qualities based on 2018 Vietnam General Education Curriculum. Based on the theoretical foundations of experiential learning and applying D. Kolb’s experiential learning model, the study builds a designing procedure for activities used in teaching the topic of "Plants and animals" in Science 4. The study also illustrates one lesson on the same topic. The lesson plan covers four distinct activities with four proposed experiential steps discussed in the literature review. The outcomes of the article will be a source of references for teachers to adopt in teaching Science.
