Abstract

The forest is full of seasons (“Rừng dậy men mùa” in Vietnamese) poetry collection by poet Dong Trinh, published in 1972 by Opponent, is the voice of an intellectual always worried about the country. The poetry collection is the two halves of reality and fantasy, war and peace, full of obsession and emotion. Through strong, fierce, tender, and gentle poems, the interweaving of the war scene and the peaceful landscape shows the courageous spirit as well as the benevolent heart of the writer. War and peace are also expressions of the poetic talent of Dong Trinh poet, through impressive lyrical poetry with unique images and artistic techniques. This article examines the nuances of war and peace, the intellectual's attitude towards reality, and how these contents are expressed in Dong Trinh's poetry through chronological, structural-systemic, and interdisciplinary approaches. Thereby, this article affirms the  'poet's important position in the line of patriotic and anti-war poetry before 1975, in terms of both thematic ideas and poetic poetry.
