INVESTMENT AND DEVELOPMENT AID OF CHINA FOR CAMBODIA (2010 - 2020): ON THE RISE

Abstract

 

Cambodia-China relations have developed rapidly in many aspects in the second decade of the twenty-first century. In particular, the development of relations with Cambodia is considered by China as a successful model of the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation, friendly neighborliness. It can be seen that the Cambodia-China relationship is in line with the expectations and desires of the two sides for a comprehensive and reliable strategic partnership within this cooperation framework. The article analyzes the increase in investment and development aid from China to Cambodia, thereby examining the nature of this relationship in the context of China's substantial rise in recent times. The article reviews related documents, including official statements of related governments and studies on China-Cambodia relations. The article shows that China's increasing influence over Cambodia through the economy has helped Cambodia develop the country, but also caused many unpredictable consequences, significantly Cambodia's political, security, and social stability.
