RESULTS OF ASSESSMENT OF PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS OF HIGH SCHOOL ENGLISH TEACHERS IN MEKONG DELTA

Abstract
The professional standards for teachers in the K-12 educational institutions refer to qualities and competences of a teacher (Ministry of Education and Training, 2018). This paper examines the qualities of English high school teachers compared to the framework of professional standards. The study surveyed teachers at 30 high schools in An Giang, Hau Giang, and Vinh Long provinces. The results show that besides some advantages, the level of ’teachers' professional standards is still limited. Consequently, the article confirms the significance of improving the qualities of English teachers.
