EXPLORING THE EMOTIONS OF ADOLESCENTS IN THE SOUTHERN URBAN AREAS OF VIETNAM ON PERFORMING SELF-DESTRUCTIVE BEHAVIOR
Main Article Content
Abstract
Research on the emotions of adolescents in southern urban areas of Vietnam on performing self-destructive behavior shows that before performing the behavior of self-destruction, negative feelings of adolescents are higher than positive ones. Depression is a negative emotion that usually occurs before the act of self-destruction. While self-destructive behavior is being performed, negative emotions tend to decrease slightly, and positive emotions such as comfort and satisfaction witness a slight increase. After the act of self-destruction is completed, negative emotions dominate again, mainly in the sense of pain, suffering, and guilt. Adolescents’ self-destructive behaviors mainly stem from negative emotions.
