RELIABILITY OF THE MULTIDIMENSIONAL STUDENTS’ LIFE SATISFACTION SCALE – VIETNAMESE VERSION FOR ADOLESCENTS

Abstract

 

The article introduces the research results of adapting the Multidimensional Students’ Life Satisfaction Scale for Vietnamese adolescents (MSLSS-VN). The study was conducted on 787 students from grades 6 to 12 studying in Ho Chi Minh City and some southern provinces. The reliability of MSLSS-VN has been established through Cronbach’s Alpha coefficients, corrected item-total correlation coefficients, and test-retest correlation coefficients for two weeks. The Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient for the entire scale is .91, and for each dimension is from .74 to .87. The corrected item-total correlation coefficients are mostly greater than .3. The test-retest correlation coefficient on the entire scale is .84, on each dimension is from .72 to .88. The findings show that MSLSS-VN with 38 items in 5 dimensions (Family, Friends, Self, School, and Living Environment) is suitable for Vietnamese adolescents.
