ACCEPTANCE OF INDIAN LITERATURE IN VIETNAM: PROCESS AND TRENDS

Abstract

Diplomatic relations between Vietnam and India are becoming deeper and richer in many ways. Cultural and literary exchange activities between the two countries were also strengthened and expanded. Since the beginning of the twentieth century, achievements in translation, criticism, research, and teaching of Indian literature have laid the foundation for studying the acceptance of Indian literature in Vietnam. The study was conducted to investigate Indian literature in Vietnam in three aspects: translation and introduction, criticism and research, and teaching. The article described the process of accepting Indian literature in Vietnam from the beginning of the twentieth century to the present, characteristics and directions of research carried out or suggested in the future. The paper alsodiscusses the significant contributions of some Indian literary researchers in Vietnam. The article will then provides a vital source of research materials for in-depth research activities on Indian literature in Vietnam.
