Abstract

The method of performance and transmission of Tay Nguyen’s epics has been studied by Western and Vietnamese scholars since the early decades of the twentieth century. When writing about Tay Nguyen epics, Nguyen Ngoc, a writer, focused on discovering the "sacredness" as a unique feature in the performance of this folklore genre. From a cultural perspective, this paper focuses on identifying the "sacred" characteristic of Nguyen Ngoc's compositions, expressed through folklore performance methods and surveying aspects such as space - time performance, relationship between artist - audiences, and performance content. Thereby, the paper affirms the contributions of Nguyen Ngoc in reflecting the rich and enchanting spiritual and cultural life of Tay Nguyen ethnic groups.
