STEAM COMPETENCY FRAMEWORK FOR STUDENTS OF PRESCHOOL EDUCATION TO MEET TEACHERS’ PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS

Abstract
The article proposes a STEAM competency framework for preschool students to meet the professional standards of preschool teachers in Vietnam. This framework serves as a basis to develop curriculum for students of preschool education at teacher education institutions. The results can be used as a basis for further research and suggestions to revise the professional standards of preschool teachers. The competency framework includes the qualities and manner of teachers in organizing STEAM education, knowledge and skills in organizing STEAM activities, making plans for educating STEAM by grade and school year, assessing children’s development in STEAM and building a safe and friendly environment for educating STEAM for children.
