Abstract

Striving for freedom and democracy, and people's interests and social equality, Bhimrao Ambedkar's thought addresses many fields. At the end of his life, Ambedkar discussed and converted to Buddhism. The most striking and consistent for Bhimrao Ambedkar is his dedication and struggle for egalitarianism. The article focuses on the speeches of Dr. Ambedkar from January 1 1927 to November 20 1956. These help partly outline key aspects of his egalitarianism regarding economy, politics, culture, society, and religion. In addition, Bhimrao Ambedkar is also considered as an inspirator for the Dalit Buddhist movement. The article reviews several statements to clarify the connection between Ambedkar's egalitarianism and Navayana’s thought. Finally, the paper emphasizes some of the humanistic meanings in the egalitarianism of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and its significance in modern Indian life.
