SCHOOL-BASED CYBERBULLYING PREVENTION PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN HO CHI MINH CITY: AN EXPERIMENTALSTUDY

Abstract
Designing a school-based cyberbullying prevention program is important to ensure safe school environment for high school students. The article reports the results of implementing a school-based cyberbullying preventive program for high school students in Ho Chi Minh city, including: (1) review of cyberbullying; (2) screening cyberbullying and being cyberbullied risks; (3) improving skills to cope with cyberbullying; (4) mental interventing and supporting relating to cyberbullying behaviors; and (5) Comminicationabout cyberbullying prevention on cyberspace by media. The program for adolescents was conducted by schoolsand researchers with three methods (1) raising awareness of cyberbullying and the meanings of cyberbullying prevention by media; (2) screening cyberbullying risks and supporting school psychology; (3) intergrating cyberbullying prevention skills into school subjects, workshops or school education activities. The results of the study shows that the hypothesis is accepted. After the study, students’ awareness was clearly raised: Changing perspective about cyberbullying risk and finding supports from school counseling to overcome difficulties about mental health caused by cyberbullying, towards healthy growth.
