OBE PRINCIPLES AND A PROCEDURE PROPOSED FOR BUILDING STUDENTS’ LEARNING OUTCOMES OF AN UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM: INTERNATIONAL URBAN MANAGEMENT

Abstract

Outcome-Based Education (OBE) is an approach to designing study programs that has been applied worldwide, including the United States, Australia, South Africa, and European countries. The OBE approach has been discussed by many famous scholars such as Watson, Pavlov, and Tyler. Because of its importance in curriculum design, this article focuses on developing students’ learning outcomes and how to apply it to the undergraduate program of international urban management. Using secondary sources and based on experience in building learning outcomes at the National University of Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), this article presents principles of OBE and proposes a process for building learning outcomes for the international urban management program.
