STEROIDS AND TRITERPENE FROM THE CHLOROFORM EXTRACTION OF LEAVES AND STEMS VINES OF STREPTOCAULON JUVENTAS MERR
Main Article Content
Abstract
From the chloroform extraction of leaves and stems of the vines of Streptocaulon Juventas, by thin layer chromatography and column chromatography, we isolated three organic compounds, including two steroids and one triterpenoid: 3α-acetyl-20,24-epoxy-dammaran-25-ol, acovenosigenin A, and periplogenin. The structures of these compounds were determined by spectra, mainly by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. This is the first time these structures were found in the leaves and stems of the vines of Streptocaulon Juventas.
