THE IMAGE OF A WOMAN IN WATER CHRONICLES BY NGUYEN NGOC TU: THE FEMINIST PERSPECTIVE
Main Article Content
Abstract
Water Chronicle is Nguyen Ngoc Tu's second novel. Similar to previous works by Nguyen Ngoc Tu such as Endless Field, Splendid Smoke of the Sky, No One Crossed the River, and River. Water Chronicle also clearly shows the image of a woman in the Mekong Delta in real life. Applying feminist criticism, analysis-synthesis, and comparison, the article discusses the image of women portrayed in this novel by Nguyen Ngoc Tu. In this novel, Nguyen Ngoc Tu focuses on deeply clarifying women's gender consciousness. They express their awareness of their own gender identity densely. These women also do not hesitate to express their hidden gender feelings in real life and reconsider the position and role of men in their relationship with them.
