TEACHING EXPERIMENTAL PROBABILITY WITH THE SUPPORT OF HANDHELD CALCULATORS

Abstract

Calculators are one of the common and familiar tools used in teaching Mathematics to students. This paper discusses the benefits of calculators to Mathematics education, in particular, their potential in teaching and learning probability in high schools. A lesson was conducted for students using calculators to calculate experimental probability and helping students to understand the relationship between experimental and classical probability. Thereby, students understand the meaning of this approach to probability and apply it to solving practical problems.
