A STUDY ON THE EFFECTS OF LIGHTING TIME AND CULTURED MEDIUM ON GERMINATION OF Tribulus terrestris L. SEEDS IN VITRO

Abstract

Tribulus terrestris L. is a rare medicinal herb, listed in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species and ranked EN in the Vietnam Red Book. In this study, we evaluated the germination of Tribulus terrestris seeds under different lighting conditions and cultured medium. Research results show that the cultured environments with ½ MS or ½ NH4NO3 have the highest survival rate, reaching 93% in about four days. When combining ½ MS medium and 20-hour lighting time, 97% of tribulus terrestris seeds are stable, and the incubation time is three days. On the contrary, in a medium with sugar content up to 90 g/L, Tribulus terrestris seeds cannot germinate.
