Abstract

Li of Southern is a folk song genre that emerged alongside the migration of Vietnamese communities to the Southern region. Throughout the region’s formation and development, Li has remained an integral part of local cultural life. However, as societal changes unfold, Li of Southern also has undergone certain changes. Through the lens of popular culture, this article explores three key aspects: 1) Li of Southern as an artistic form representing the cultural identity of the Southern region; 2) how its evolution reflects shifts in the living environment and character of Southern communities; 3) the necessity of preserving and promoting Li of Southern in alignment with contemporary cultural dissemination efforts.
