THE PORTRAYALS OF EXILES IN BINH THUAN SHORT STORIES AFTER 1986
Main Article Content
Abstract
The theme of exile has been present in literary works since ancient epics, but the depiction of exiled characters has evolved distinctly through various socio-historical contexts across different eras. This article surveys and introduces exiled individuals portrayed in select short stories from Binh Thuan, written after 1986, to examine the contributions of typical authors in their perspectives and sentiments towards those living far from home and homeland due to circumstances. Through each short story, the writers have reflected on the human conditions that cannot escape the vortex of war's history; and in times of peace, people are driven by the pursuit of livelihood and personal happiness.
