CHEMICAL CONSTITUENT OF C3 CHLOROFORM EXTRACT OF LEAVES AND STEMS VINES OF STREPTOCAULON JUVENTAS

Abstract
From the C3 chloroform extract of leaves and stems vines of Streptocaulon juventas Merr., four natural compounds were isolated using a combination of thin-layer chromatography, silica gel column chromatography, and reversed-phase column chromatography. These compounds were identified as β-sitosterol (1), lupeol (2), neoilexonol acetate (3), and 1β,3β-dihydroxy-urs-9(11),12-dien (4). Their chemical structures were elucidated by the NMR spectroscopy. Notably, this study marks the first discovery of 1β,3β-dihydroxy-urs-9(11),12-dien in the genus Streptocaulon, representing a significant contribution to our understanding of the chemical diversity within this plant group.
