Abstract

The article provides an overview of the concepts of trauma and healing, along with the theory of trauma from the perspective of Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory to the narratology of trauma, with notable contributions by Cathy Caruth. This theoretical foundation enables us to elucidate and clarify the parallel between trauma and healing in novels by female writers in the South during the early 21st century, across two aspects: 1) The family – the origin of trauma and healing; 2) Proactive self-transformation as an effective therapeutic approach in the healing journey. Consequently, the study advances our understanding of trauma and healing in trauma literature and novels by women authors in the South in the early 21st century.
