DESIGNING AND ORGANIZING STEM EDUCATION TOPICS IN TEACHING THE CONTENT OF NUTRITION AND DIGESTION IN ANIMALS, BIOLOGY GRADE 11
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study designed and implemented a STEM lesson following the engineering design process, in which students took on the role of game designers to create a board game integrating knowledge of animal nutrition and digestion from the 11th-grade Biology curriculum. A comparisons of the pre-test and post-test results on 126 high school students in Ho Chi Minh City showed that the STEM lesson significantly enhanced students’ biological cognition competency as well as the competency to apply learned knowledge and skills. Additionally, students demonstrated communication and collaboration competencies, along with diligence, during the stages of solution selection, construction, and testing of the board game. This study contributesto the STEM educational resources in Vietnam and the improvement of teaching quality in alignment with the 2018 General Education Curriculum in Vietnam.
