ARCS model in teaching natural sciences: A case study on designing teaching aids for the topic “Atom”
Main Article Content
Abstract
The ARCS model has been proven to be an effective theoretical framework for enhancing learning motivation through four components: attention, relevance, confidence, and satisfaction. This study aims to apply the ARCS model in designing and evaluating the effectiveness of a teaching aid for the “Atom” topic in Grade 7 Natural Science. The research methodology includes a quasi-experimental study with 34 students, utilizing a Likert-scale questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. Preliminary results indicate that the teaching aid enhances students' attention, strengthens lesson relevance, boosts confidence, and fosters satisfaction when engaging with new content. This study reinforces the potential of the ARCS model in designing teaching aids for the “Atom” topic in particular and the Natural Science subject in general.
