Abstract
The victory of the Ho Chi Minh campaign on April 30, 1975 marked the end of Vietnam’s resistance war against the US and the liberation of the South, opening a new chapter in the nation’s history. This article outlines the historical context of the campaign and presents the Politburo’s strategic directives for its execution. The study emphasizes the critical role of logistics and technical preparation in ensuring the campaign’s success. It details the coordinated movement of major military units, including the 2nd Corps from Da Nang, the 3rd Corps from Dau Tieng, Tay Ninh, the 1st Corps from the North, and the 4th Corps along with the 232nd Group operating in Xuan Loc, Long An, and along Route 4, as they converged to establish an offensive position around Saigon. In addition, the article also highlights local logistical preparations led by the Regional Party Committee and the Saigon - Gia Dinh Military Region. The article also summarizes the consumption of weapons and fuel, as well as the treatment of wounded soldiers during the campaign, and evaluates the advantages and disadvantages of the logistics and transportation operations throughout the Ho Chi Minh campaign.
