Abstract

This study examines the narrative point of view in the short stories of Nguyen Van Xuan, through an analysis of works such as Father’s Death Anniversary, The Sandstorm, and Scent of Blood. The research reveals that the author employs a diverse and flexible narrative perspective, combining omniscient, limited, and objective points of view, thereby creating a distinctive artistic effect. These narrative strategies not only reflect social reality, cultural customs, and historical context but also offer a deep insight into the characters’ psychology, especially in life-and-death moments. The paper contributes to the application of narratology to the study of Vietnamese literature, while also highlighting the author’s humanistic vision and refined artistic sensibility.
