Abstract
Ho Bieu Chanh, a prominent figure in 20th-century South Vietnamese literature, is celebrated for the distinctive content and artistic merit of his works. This study explores his novel Cay dang mui doi through the lens of landscape criticism, focusing on the construction, space, and context elements. The analysis addresses three key aspects: the localization of landscape, landscape as a challenge, and the desire for a sense of belonging to place. By strategically crafting landscapes as symbols Ho Bieu Chanh conveys familiar moral lessons, enhancing reader engagement with the text.
